Okay, the hyperbole about the weather can stop. It is a warmer day, sunny and nice, the world is not ending. It was cool over the past few days, but the speculation about climate change and the cold weather being caused by the nuclear reactor issues in Japan was well overblown.
Thailand is not equipped for cold weather- the people cannot tolerate the cold, buildings are not designed for cold and mentally everyone freaks out. Last night at a dinner party I was told the following:
- the cold weather is tied to a permanent climate change
- the cold weather is due to the earthquake in Japan
- the cold weather is caused by the radiation leaking from the reactors in Japan
- the cold weather is tied to the super moon that will occur tonight.
Everyone forgot the weather forecast called for cold weather, just like it called for things to warm up today and back to flat out hot tomorrow (36 Celsius).
What I learned- cool weather in Thailand is as paralyzing as snow in the South of the USA; if it isn’t physically hindering you, the mental obsession with it will paralyze you.
Out to enjoy the cool (28 Celsius) but warm weather.
