There will be no alcohol served in bars on Monday 4 May 2012. Many bars will not be open and some restaurants will close. Note- many western hotels and restaurants will serve alcohol. Most stores will not sell alcohol at any point during the day.
Monday is a Buddhist Holiday- Visakha Bucha Day.
The alcohol ban is very different on a Buddhist Holiday than on the government imposed “dry days” at elections- many restaurants, bars and convenience stores do not want to sell alcohol on a Buddhist Holiday; the result is that alcohol will be much harder to find on a Buddhist Holiday than a government imposed dry day.
