If Bangkok had a cooler climate, how many millions would live here?

We’ll never know, mother nature began reminding Bangkokians yesterday of the real Bangkok climate.

The cool temperatures over the past month was spurring serious discussion about expanding Bangkok’s official three seasons from hot, hotter and seek shelter to include super duper pleasant.

It has been very nice and cool in Bangkok for over thirty days, walk five blocks without sweating cool, reduce your air-conditioning bill by 50% cool, and, gasp, grab a light sweatshirt at night cool. At times it was so cool you wondered if air-conditioning was flowing from a door someone left open.

The times of the farangs being able to stride around Bangkok without a sweat absorbing towel are gone for now- the nightly low temps of 15-18 degrees with daytime highs of 28-30 are gone, nightly temps have bumped up to 24-26 with daytime temps of 33, the winds have subsided, the humidity is climbing.

Thanks super duper pleasant season, come back soon, if you’re going to return for an extended visit, please let me know prior…..an extended super duper pleasant season will let to a significant influx of ex-pats and rise in land prices.

About faranginbangkok

I began working in Bangkok during 2008- a time that featured a great deal of political unrest in Thailand and particularly Bangkok. I had lived in San Francisco for 15 years and was working on a project in Thailand. Generally, I spent 2 weeks in Bangkok and then 3-4 weeks in San Francisco. Did Bangkok begin to feel like home? Yes, and No. Bangkok and the Thai culture forced me to feel many things, the change in culture and environment was so dramatic it forced the decision- embrace or ignore. I embraced and made Bangkok my home and base in 2009. I have enjoyed living in Bangkok, experiencing Thailand and the entire ASEAN region. I moved to Singapore in 2016...fallen behind on this blog since.
